Patna: An accused involved in the murder of two brothers of a former BJP MLA Chittaranjan Sharma in Patna was arrested on Thursday, police said.
Sharma’s brothers Gautam Sharma and Shambhu Sharma were gunned down in Patrakar Nagar area on Tuesday night.
SHO, Patrakar Nagar claimed that the arrested accused, named Bablu Singh, was involved in the conspiracy of killing Gautam and Shambhu.
“We have arrested Bablu Singh from Masaudhi town on Patna’s outskirts on Thursday. We have registered an FIR against 6 persons of Neema village under Dhanarua police. Five of them are currently on the run,” he said.
The police said that the double murder at Patrakaar Nagar was part of a gang war between ex-MLA Sharma and Sanjay Singh, both residents of Neema village. Due to their rivalry, nine people from both sides lost their lives so far.
The entire gang rivalry was related to Pandav Sena which was formed by Sharma and Sanjay Singh in the early 2000 to take on Maoist groups.
The differences between these two persons started in 2004 when Prashant Sahay, son of former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, was gunned down during an appearance in Hazaribagh court in Jharkhand.
At that time, an FIR of murder was registered in Hazaribagh where Sanjay Singh was the named accused, and suspected that the information was passed by Sharma to the police. From there on, the rivalry between these two gangsters kicked off.
Sharma’s relatives, traders Abhiram Sharma and Dinesh Sharma were also killed in Jahanabad and Masaudhi, respectively, on April 26.
