Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said the target of running the country’s first bullet train between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat will be achieved by 2026.
Vaishnaw was in Surat to inspect the progress of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project. He said that initially the train will run between Surat and Bilimora and then as the tracks are ready, the train will increase.
The project is aimed at running the bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai on a high speed rail (HSR) corridor at a speed of 320 kmph, covering a distance of 508 km and 12 stations.
There will be 8 stations in Gujarat and 4 in Maharashtra. Till now, the work of about 61 km of pillars is almost being completed. Work is going on simultaneously on 150 km.
