Baripada: Two forest department personnel were injured after being attacked by a bear during the tiger census in Chahala range under Similipal North Wildlife Division in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
The two were rescued by other staff members and discharged after preliminary treatment. They have been reportedly provided with Rs 10,000 compensation each.
It is to be noted that the tiger census is done once in four years. As per the 2018 census, there are 28 tigers in the two tiger projects – Similipal Tiger Reserve and Satkosia Tiger Reserve – in Odisha.
