Bhubaneswar: Jatni police arrested three miscreants on Tuesday night and seized two pistols and live ammunition from them.
Acting on reliable information Jatni police intercepted these criminals. While two of them are from Kendrapara area, one is from Sundarpada. They have several cases against their names in Kendrapara and Bhubaneswar UPD.
“Yesterday at around 11.15 in the night Jatni police received information that two miscreants from Kendrapara area were going to Jatni area on a bike with an intent to commit crime. Immediately Jatni police swung into action and intercepted them on the road,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh today.
Singh said that following their interception they were identified as Bikram alias Dharmendra of Rajnagar and Dipu alias Diptiranjan of Kendrapara.
“We have seized a 9mm pistol with 4 rounds of live ammunition from the possession of Bikram and 3 rounds of ammunition from Diptiranjan. After their interrogation we came to know that they were called by one Santosh Martha of Sundarpada area to threaten members of his rival gang,” Singh said.
The DCP informed that based on information provided by Bikram and Dipu they were successful in intercepting Santosh Martha on the Harirajpur-Bhubaneswar road.
“We have seized one 7.65 mm pistol loaded with 6 rounds of ammunition from the possession of Santosh. He was travelling in a Toyota Etios vehicle. Dipu and Bikram have confessed to having been called by Santosh to threaten members of his rival gang,” the DCP said.
The trio have several cases against them in various police stations, he added.
