Bhubaneswar: Two forest rangers have been suspended in connection with the recent recovery of an elephant skeleton in Baramba range under Athagarh Forest Division of Cuttack district.
Besides, six others including a forest guard, three watchers, a hunter, and the owner of the land where the elephant was buried have been arrested.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) has suspended Baramba ranger Suresh Kumar Sarangi and Khuntuni ranger Gajendra Pal Singh Mathur.
Notably, the Special Task Force (STF) of the State Crime Branch had unearthed an elephant skeleton from the Athgarh forest Division on June 3.
Investigation revealed the involvement of the forest staff of the division in the death and burial of the elephant.
