Bhubaneswar: In a significant decision, the Odisha government has decided to take stringent action against bogus teachers.
Certificates and testimonials submitted by teachers appointed in the last three years will be verified.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by Development Commissioner Pradip Kumar Jena.
The State government will be writing letters to universities in outside States and the Education department of the concerned States for verification of certificates and testimonials.
It was decided in the meeting to send special officers to universities in outside States to expedite the process if required.
From the current year, Digi Lock system will be introduced in the Board of Secondary Education(BSE) and Council of Higher Secondary Education(CHSE).
It was decided at the meeting to write to the Secretary, IT Department for digitization of all certificates of BSE and CHSE.
Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) Project Director will prepare a database of all teachers.
Steps will be taken for an immediate decision on all cases in addition to the filing of FIRs.
It was further decided at the meeting to write letters for recovery of salary amount from identified teachers.
Issuing of No Objection Certificate (NOC) to CBSE schools will be made simpler and automated while applications will be accepted online.
In the event of information provided by these schools is found to be wrong, no NOC will be provided for three years.
Emphasis would be laid on the training of teachers and OSEPA would undertake programmes for skill development.
It was decided in the meeting to identify 30 schools in 30 districts for imparting teaching through the English medium.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, School and Mass Education Bishnupada Sethi, President BSE, Chairman CHSE, and Project Director Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya among others.
