Rayagada: Two girls from Odisha are being praised for rescuing four tourists, including two children, who were stuck in the snow at Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh.
Akansha Sahu, who is a resident of Rayagada, had recently gone to visit Rohtang Pass with her family members and cousin Ayushi Sahu, who lives in Paralakhemundi.
On the morning of June 17, while everyone was enjoying the snow-capped mountains and natural beauty, it suddenly started to rain and the snow began to melt due to adverse weather conditions.
More than 150 tourists present on the snow-covered mountain were left terrified when the snow began to slide under their feet.
All the tourists rushed to get off the mountain but two women from Rajasthan along with their two children got trapped on the mountain.
Watching their plight, Akansha and Ayushi climbed up the mountain. They first carried the two children down from the mountain and later were able to bring back the two women to safety.
The bodies of the four rescued persons were collapsing due to the low temperature. They were immediately provided with heat and their life was saved.
