Inspired by the policies and ideals of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, she joined the party in the presence of BJD’s organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das.

Patnaik from Sutahat in Cuttack has donated her three-storied house, gold ornaments, and all her possessions to Budha Samal, a rickshaw puller in the Millennium City.
After the death of her husband, she had decided to spend the rest of her life with her daughter, but six months after her husband’s death, her daughter Komal died of cardiac arrest.
As Minati’s relatives turned their back on her at this crucial juncture of life, rickshaw puller Budha Samal and his family helped her in every possible way. Minati repaid the kindness by donating her property worth over Rs 1 crore to Samal.
