Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force on Tuesday arrested two persons on allegations of smuggling Ganja during surveillance near Pitapali on NH 16. The accused were identified as Anil Kumar of Bijnor Uttar Pradesh and Ganesh Shah of Mahendranagar in Nepal.
According to the STF, the two are members of an inter-state drug trafficking racket and were transporting ganja from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. The sleuths discovered and seized more than 800 kg ganja from a secret compartment of their truck.
The vehicle along the contraband ganja was seized from their possession. The accused persons booked under relevant Sections of the NDPS Act and forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Special Judge, Khurda at Bhubaneswar. In this connection, the STF has registered a case and investigating further.
