Bhubaneswar: Two late night accidents were witnessed over the Acharya Vihar flyover near Maharaja Hall on National Highway 16 after midnight of Sunday. A young man and his bike were mysteriously burning on the highway, and half an hour later, another accident took place on the other side of the road.
Reportedly, a young man was found burning with his bike on the flyover at around 12.15 am. Some eyewitnesses removed the youth from the burning vehicle but he was found dead with around 70 percent of burn injuries on his body. The public immediately informed the police and fire brigade about the incident.
Subsequently, fire brigade rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The police also arrived at the scene and sent the deceased’s body for post-mortem. While his identity is yet to be ascertained, police have initiated a probe into the matter and will be collecting the CCTV footage of the surrounding area to find the truth.
As other vehicles passing on the road were slowing down after watching the scene, a Tata Ace travelling from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack on the other side of the road was hit by a speeding Hyva truck. As a result, the Tata Ace hit an electric pole in the middle of the road. Three persons including the driver have been injured and admitted to Capital Hospital.
