Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the grand Rath Yatra celebrations, several devotees thronged the pilgrim town of Puri to witness the ‘Nabajoubana Darshan’’ of the recuperated Lord Jagannath and His siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
Soon after their holy bath on the auspicious Snana Purnima day, the deities fell ill and were recuperating at the ‘Anasara Ghara’ for a fortnight. After their recovery, the Holy Trinity emerged for the first time on the pious occasion of ‘Nabajoubana Darshan’ today.
The ‘Nabajoubana Darshan’ falls a day before the world-renowned Rath Yatra (car festival). Initially, the ‘Banakalagi’ ritual of the deities is performed followed by ‘Mangala Arati’, ‘Mailam’ and ‘Abakasha Niti’.
After all the rituals are solemnised, the ‘Paramanika Darshan’ and ‘Sarbasadharana Darshan’ of the deities commences in turn. While during the ‘Paramanika Darshan’ devotees have to buy tickets for a glimpse of the deities in the sanctum sanctorum, the ‘Sarbasadharana Darshan’ is free to all devotees.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma had yesterday informed that the Parimanik or paid Darshan will be held between 8 am and 9 am. After that, the Sahana Mela, or public darshan has been scheduled for one hour till 10 am.
The entry and exit of devotees will be in the normal Singhadwar (East Gate) and Hastidwara (North Gate), added Verma.
