Puri: The ‘Dakshina Moda’ rituals or the southward turn of the three chariots Taladhwaja, Darpadalana, and Nandighosa of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath were completed today.
This marks the beginning of Rath Yatra preparations. The servitors brought ‘Agnya Mala’ (divine approval) to start the ritual after Sakala Dhupa. First the chariot of Devi Subhadra, Darpadalana, is turned towards the south. It is followed by Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja and Lord Jagannath’s Nandighosha.
The annual sojourn of the deities to Gundicha Mandir, situated three kilometers away will begin on Friday. Lakhs of devotees will be participating in the event after a gap of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
