Khurda: Kankana Sikhari is one of the places where the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, and other valuables of Shree Jagannath Temple were secured when the shrine was under attack.
Kankana Sikhar is located in Chilika lake near Nairi village where the annual Rath Yatra is observed on boats. When the temple at Puri was under attack, the Lords sought refuge in Chilika at three places, Kankana Sikhari, Gurubai and Chakanasi.
