Angul: A student of Std VII, Chandan Kumar Sanu, was killed while he was playing in the school playground, due to a lightning strike.
The tragedy occured at Ghosara upper primary school in Kishorenagar block of Angul.
According to reports, at around 3:30 pm when the students were out in the playground for games, the tragedy unfolded.
Chandan fell unconscious after being struck by lightning. He was rushed to the local health centre where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Local police have registered a case and sent the body for autopsy. Further investigation is on.
