Bhubaneswar: As little as 1.5 lakh citizens in the age group of 18-59 years have taken precaution (booster) dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Odisha, informed State Nodal Officer for Immunisation Dr Bijay Panigrahi today.
It is merely one per cent of the total beneficiaries in this age group which means 99 per cent have not taken precaution dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday announced that the Centre will provide free booster doses of Covid vaccines for the 18-59 age group at government vaccination centres under a 75-day special drive from July 15.
“Since there has been a little rise in the number of infections we are focussing on vaccination,” informed Dr Panigrahi.
The State Nodal Officer for Immunisation stated that in the 12-14 year children group 98 per cent have been administered with the first dose and 72 per cent have been administered with the second dose.
Similarly, 92 per cent children in the 15-17 year group have been administered with the first dose and 82 per cent have received the second dose, he said.
Besides, in the 18 years and above group 96 per cent have been administered the first dose of the Covid vaccine while 90 per cent have received the second dose.
