Berhampur: Another carcass of an elephant was found with one of its tusk missing near Kandhanuapalli village in Jagannath Prasad Range in Ghumsur North Division in Ganjam district on Wednesday night.
The elephant is suspected to have died three days back after coming in contact with a live wire. One of its tusks has been cut off. Forest officials have recovered the carcass and initiated a probe into the matter to ascertain the reason behind its death.
It is the second such incident in the area within a fortnight. Earlier on July 7, the carcass of an elephant was found in a water pit at Darapangia forest under the Mujagada Range in Ghumsur North Division.
