Bhubaneswar: DG Fire Service, CG, Home Guards and Director Civil Defence, Odisha, S.K Upadhyay, on Saturday flagged off the newly introduced Advance Rescue Tender of Odisha Fire Service at Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Academy, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar in presence of Fire Service ADGP Soumya Mishra, Bhubaneswar- Cuttack Police Commissioner Saumyendra Kumar Priyadarshi and I/C Chief Fire Officer (SAG), FPW, Debendra Kumar Swain.
Upadhyay reviewed the practical use and requirement of Advance Rescue Tender in Odisha Fire Service.
A. The newly introduced Advance Rescue Tender of Odisha Fire Service having latest equipments is a multifunctional Emergency Rescue Tender designed specifically for the purpose of use at Fire disaster, rescue in road & building and other special service calls such as:
i. Large fire incidents in cities and town requiring Fire Entry Suit, Breathing apparatus, illumination equipment and other sophisticated equipment.
ii. Hazardous incident of chemical leakage, toxic liquid or gas leakage requiring special designed chemical suit and other sophisticated equipment.
iii. Rescue operation in Major accident on road and railway requiring special cutting, spreading and lifting gears.
iv. Search and rescue operation in collapse building requiring victim location search camera, life detector etc.
v. Rescue from high-rise building requiring jumping cushion, Cutting and breaking gears etc.
B. There are 10 Lockers provided in the Advance Rescue Tender for storage of all equipment. Some lockers have drowning i.e roll in-roll out type with opening in tapered position giving very easy and immediate access to all equipment. The advance rescue tender is equipped with sophisticated equipment like Search Camera, Life Detector, thermal Imagine Camera, Hydraulic equipments.

C. The Advance Rescue Tender shall be stationed at OFDRA, Bhubaneswar and during emergency it will be mobilized to Khordha, Cuttack and other nearby towns with trained manpower at short notice.
D. After introduce of Advance Rescue Tender in Odisha Fire Service, capacity of the department has enhanced. Now better service could be provided to public in case of emergency.
E. If people will get benefit out of this initiative and this step will be successful, steps may be taken for deployment of such Advance Rescue Tenders in major Fire Stations of the State in the greater interest of public service.
