Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Tuesday apprehended a drug peddler near Railway Level Crossing, Arad Bazar, Balasore, and recovered over 1 kilogram of brown sugar from his possession.
On the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by a team of STF, and the drug peddler identified as Sheikh Mezu of Arad Bazar was nabbed. During the search, contraband brown sugar weighing 1050 gm, cash of Rs 28,100, and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from his possession.
As he could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of such contraband materials, he was arrested and forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Spl. Judge, Balasore. The STF registered a case in this regard U/s 21(c) of NDPS Act 1985. Further investigation is on.
Since 2020, STF has seized more than 56 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram of Cocaine, and more than 111 quintals of Ganja/Marijuana, Opium 750 gram, and arrested more than 157 drug dealers/peddlers.
