Bhubaneswar: As many as 5,393 inhabited villages out of 47,677 inhabited villages (as per the 2011 census) in Odisha do not have a mobile telephone network.
This was revealed in the information shared by Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics & Information Technology Tusharkanti Behera in a written reply to a question by BJP Member from Jashipur Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia in the Odisha Assembly today.
Behera informed that under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) Left Wing Extremism (LWE) Phase II project of Central government 483 mobile towers (all 4G) will be established in nine districts of Odisha.
That apart, 3,933 villages will be covered with 4G mobile network under USOF Aspirational District Coverage Project in 10 Aspirational Districts, he added.
A total of 2,379 mobile towers will be installed under the USOF Aspirational District Project, he further said.
