Berhampur: Strong tidal waves have washed away at least six houses in Podampeta region of Ganjam district on Sunday. While the district administration has already evacuated the village, reports stated that a few families continued to stay in the area despite repeated warnings.
With occurrence of the tidal activity, today morning panic spread in the region and neighbouring villages. According to reports, if the process continues, tidal waves are very likely to consume Kantiagada and a couple of other villages in the locality.
Locals have demanded that the district administration must take preventive steps to rehabilitate the inhabitants and rescue them from a possible calamity.
