Bhubaneswar: As many as 5,597 children under the age of 5 years died and 771 maternal deaths occurred during transit to hospitals in the State in the last seven years, informed Health & Family Welfare Minister Naba Kisore Das in the Odisha Assembly today.
According to data shared by Das in his reply to a query by BJD Member from Dabugam Manohar Randhari, a total of 5,597 children below the age of 5 died and 771 maternal deaths occurred across Odisha during the period between 2015-16 to 2021-2022 while on transit to hospitals.
