Jajpur: A mother-daughter duo was killed after being run over by a truck, at Barada Chowk under Jenapur police limits last evening. However, in a turn of events, today it was revealed that a truck driver intentionally eliminated the woman and her daughter because they had an argument a few minutes prior to the tragedy.
According to eye-witnesses and police sources, the mother-daughter duo, Shritika Chakraborty (47) and Lipika Chakraborty (24) stopped the truck near Aruha Chowk on NH 53 and had a scuffle with the driver over dangerous driving.
According to reports, the argument was serious and locals had to intervene to assuage Shritika and her mother. Following this, the duo left for their home in Sukinda. They were returning from Ramnagar in Kendrapara district after attending the final rites of Shritika’s father.
Near Barada chowk, a truck knocked them down and the two died on the spot. On the basis of eye witnesses’ accounts and a thorough investigation, the police have arrested the truck driver Amar Swain of Totakana village in this connection.
