Jharsuguda: Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended one Tikinath Bhainsal, Junior Engineer (JE) of Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from an authorised vendor-cum-contractor to facilitate payment of his pending bill.
The accused was caught while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 as an instalment of the overall demand of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
Vigilance officials have recovered and seized the bribe amount of Rs 25,000 from accused Bhainsal.
Vigilance has registered a case against accused Bhainsal under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018 and further investigation is under progress.
