Koraput: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed in a bear attack in the forest near Duduriguda village under Dasmantpur block in Koraput district.
The deceased woman has been identified as Daimati Paika. Police have seized Daimati’s body. The incident took place on Thursday evening.
Daimati was attacked by the bear while she had gone to the nearby forest to gather bamboo shoots. She got killed on the spot.
As she did not return home till late in the night, her family members searched for her in the morning. Family members found her body near a tree with deep wounds in a pool of blood.
Forest department officials on being informed with the help of police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital at Koraput.
