Nabarangpur: Two youths were grievously hurt when five others ran a tractor over them at Barmasi village under Kodinga police limits in Nabarangpur district today over an old land dispute.
The injured youths identified as Dambrudhar Pujari and Padlam Pujari who were initially rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here have been shifted to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital at Koraput as their health condition worsened.
According to reports, while Dambrudhar and Padlam were working in their field, Anant Pujari, Chandan Pujari, Dumar Pujari, Siba Pujari and Sankar Puri entered the field in a tractor mounted with a cage wheel.
When Dambrudhar and Padlam objected to the entry of the tractor into their field which had a standing crop, the accused persons allegedly ran the cage wheel of the tractor on Padlam and Dambrudhar. They also stabbed Dambrudhar in his chest with a knife.
Both legs of Padlam have been badly damaged and may require amputation while Dambrudhar’s lungs have been hit.
After women working in the field rushed to the village and reported the matter, villagers rushed the injured duo to the DHH here.
Land dispute is said to be the reason behind the attack.
