Its objective is to delay the first child and a minimum gap of three years between the first and second child, Dr Panigrahi explained.
“To encourage newly married couples to adopt family planning methods we are gifting them Naba Dampati Kit or Nai Pahal Kit. The kit contains information on family planning, contraceptives like condoms, oral contraceptive pills including emergency contraceptive pills and a grooming kit for them,” he said sharing details on the contents of the kit.
He informed that the grooming kit contains daily use items for the bride which include a towel, a nail cutter, and a small mirror.
ASHA workers in villages and towns will gift the Naba Dampati Kit to couples irrespective of their socio-economic standards on the day of their wedding, he said.
