Dhenkanal: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested DSP in-charge of Dhenkanal Sadar police station Abhinav Dalua while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a complainant (coal transporter) to facilitate his transportation business.
The bribe amount of Rs 30,000 has been recovered from accused Dalua and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched at eight locations of Dalua from disproportionate assets (DA) angle. These places are 1) Ramchandrapur, Jatni, Khurdha plot no 32/34, Khurda; 2) Dhenkanal at -4 places; 3) Meghadambaru, Balasore, paternal house of Dalua; 4) Jharbeda, Turumunga, Dist- Keonjhar, in-laws house; and 5) native place at Narasinghpur in Cuttack district.
Eight teams comprising 1 Addl SP, 9 DSPs, 8 Inspectors and other staff are engaged in the search.
In this connection, Vigilance has registered a case under section of 7 PC Amendment Act,2018. Investigation against Dalua is in progress.
The accused had earlier threatened the complainant to not allow his coal transportation if the bribe amount was not paid. The complainant paid Rs 15,000 on 24 August, but Dalua still demanded more. So the complainant approached Vigilance, following which a trap was laid and he was nabbed while further taking Rs 30,000.
