Baripada: An elephant entered the weekly market at Ambagadia village in Betnoti block of Mayurbhanj district and trampled a man to death on Thursday evening.
Reportedly, when the market was wrapping up yesterday, a tusker suddenly came out of the nearby forest. It attacked the man identified as Biswanath Singh of the village.
Other people present at the spot survived the elephant attack by running away from the spot. Later, the forest department was informed about the incident.
As per the last reports, forest personnel from Betnoti Range are monitoring the elephant’s movements. A case in this regard has been registered at Baisinga Police Station.
