Nuapada: A woman was shot dead during an attempt to save her husband at Thutibara village under Komana police limits of Nuapada district on Wednesday light.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Kumudini Sabar sustained a bullet injury when she tried to save her husband Sarat Sahu from one Nilambar Suna of the village.
Suna was trying to extort Rs 10,000 from Sahu but when the latter refused he threatened to shoot him. Kumudini suddenly intervened and the bullet hit her on the stomach.
On getting information, Komana Police reached the village and seized the body. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
