Bhubaneswar: The School & Mass Education Department of Odisha has congratulated Kalyani Sahoo of Bargarh district for receiving outstanding innovation awards at the 9th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition held in New Delhi. She is one of the two students from Odisha who were awarded for their innovation.
Kalyani Sahoo, a class X student of Deoli Nodal High School in Murhapalli block of Bargarh district was awarded for her innovative project on building a Hi-tech bed meant for patients and elderly people.
The bed can be easily operated and has the provision of an automatic basin. The bed can be operated with the help of LDR sensors in case of a power outage. This innovation is targeted to help the elderly and patients in hospitals. A science geek, Kalyani has a keen fondness for the advances of Earth Sciences.
Hailing from a very remote pocket of Bargarh district, Kalyani aims to take the pride of Odisha to the next level in both national and international forums. She aims to innovate entities that serve the necessity of the common people.
A total of 556 students participated in the event to showcase their innovative projects. Among the top 60 participants, the other Odia talent is Sreyansh Vikas Mishra, a student of SAI International School, Bhubaneswar who was also conferred with the prestigious award.
Organised at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, the event commenced from the 14th and came to an end on the 16th. The closing ceremony of the event was graced with the august presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology & Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who awarded the participants.
The NLEPC is an important milestone under the annual INSPIRE Awards – MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge), a flagship scheme jointly implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the National Innovation Foundation (NIF).
