Bhubaneswar: The Sub- Inspector in-charge of Bhejiput Police Outpost under Khalikote Police Station in Ganjam district was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
Sub-Inspector Susanta Kumar Swain had demanded the said amount from a person to help him in a case registered against him earlier in Khalikote Police Station.
Based on the complaint of the person, Vigilance sleuths had laid a trap and caught Swain red-handed. The entire bribe money of Rs 15,000 was recovered from his possession.
Following the trap, simultaneous raids were conducted on the property associated with Swain.
