Koraput: For the first time in Odisha, the farmers would get the advantage of utilising a drone for cultivation of various crops. The case in point is drone farming by farmers of Pataneswari Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Koraput, with the support of Nationwide Financial institution for Agriculture and Rural Growth (NABARD).
NABARD has supplied an agriculture drone to facilitate finishing farming works. The farmers will use the drone for spraying pesticides and fertilisers on crops. The drone was formally launched at Subei village in Koraput by C Udaybhaskar, Head of NABARD in Bhubaneswar.
“NABARD has procured the drone at a price of Rs 5.14 lakh. This method will revolutionise farming in Odisha,” he said. The cooperative aims at reaching out to all farmers of the district and help them use the drone.
District Development Manager, NABARD Koraput, MM Behera, Biswa Ranjan Jaisingh of IFFCO and senior officials and members of the cooperative were present on the occasion.
