Berhampur: Around 3 kilograms of gold and 150 kilograms of silver ornaments being illegally transported from Tamil Nadu to Berhampur in Ganjam district of Odisha was seized by police on Sunday.
Reportedly, the ornaments amounting to over Rs 2.5 crore were being transported by a jeweller of Prem Nagar area in Berhampur with the intention to avoid taxes.
On getting information, Golanthara Police intercepted the vehicle transporting the ornaments at Sorala junction. Four persons have been detained in this connection. The officials of the GST and IT departments have been informed about the incident.
