Bhubaneswar: As many as five platoons of the police force will be deployed for Ravan Podi celebrations in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Vijaya Dasami today.
In addition to these 28 guidelines have been issued for Ravan Podi celebrations. This was informed by Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Prateek Singh.
Singh said that no person will be allowed within the 100-metre zone (no man’s zone) of Ravan Podi.
The crackers to be used in Ravan Podi should be purchased from licensed cracker vendors.
Barricades have been erected for safety.
The Odisha Fire Service after doing a fire safety audit has given the go-ahead to Baramunda, Jharpada, Koradakanta and Naharakanta puja mandaps in Bhubaneswar for Ravan Podi.
The Commissionerate Police gave clearance to the aforementioned puja mandaps for Ravan Podi after an on-spot assessment by DCP Bhubaneswar.
“Permission has been given for holding Ravan Podi at four places in Bhubaneswar-Baramunda, Jharpada, Naharkanta and Koradakanta. 100-metre area will be declared as no man’s land. Those handling firecrackers will have to wear safety gear. A total of 5 platoons of policemen will be deployed in these four places. The main challenge will be traffic control. For that 3 ADCP, 6 ACP and other officers will be deployed,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
