Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reiterated today that a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and the neighbourhood around October 18.
The system would move west northwestwards towards westcentral and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal becoming low pressure area around October 20, the IMD added.
According to the IMD, the cyclonic circulation over westcentral and adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal now lies over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and along & off South Andhra Pradesh & North Tamilnadu coasts and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Under its impact, light to moderate rain/thundershower has occurred at many places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Besides, the IMD has issued a ‘yellow warning’ that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur during the next 24 hours.
Further, light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest of districts of Odisha during the aforementioned period, the IMD has said in its forecast.
