Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance has unearthed investment in excess of Rs 1.75 crore in Crypto currency during simultaneous house searches of Nihar Ranjan Das, Additional Chief Engineer, Planning, Monitoring, Design & Investigation, RWS&S Circle, Bhubaneswar and his family members in connection with allegation of disproportionate assets against him.
According to an official press release of the Odisha Vigilance, the investment value in Crypto Currency by Das and his family members is likely to rise as documents are still being verified by its Financial Wing with the assistance of Crypto experts.
In addition to the investment in Crypto Currency, the anti-graft agency unearthed one 3 BHK Flat No. 201 at Sri Ram Mansion, Kharavela Nagar, Unit-III, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 32.5 lakh; triple storeyed building at Modipara, Sambalpur; 6 plots in prime areas of Sambalpur town with registered sale deed value of over Rs 1.27 crore; Bank & Insurance deposits worth about Rs 64.42 lakh; cash amounting to Rs 1,07,785; gold jewelry weighing approximately 332 gms worth over Rs 10 lakh; 2 four wheelers worth Rs 39 lakh; 2 two wheelers worth Rs 3 lakh; and household articles worth over Rs 15.55 lakh.
Based on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income against Das, six teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 12 Inspectors, 1 Sub-Inspector, 11 ASIs and other staff conducted simultaneous house searches at 6 places in Khurdha, Sambalpur and Bargarh districts on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
The press release said that further searches are continuing and the unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase.
