Bhawanipatna: Narla police in Odisha’s Kalahandi district have arrested a person for allegedly selling his wife to another person in Delhi.
The accused identified as Khira Beruk of Maskaguda village under Narla police limits was forwarded to the court and has been sent to judicial custody.
A police team is reportedly preparing to leave for Delhi to rescue the victim woman.
According to reports, Khira had an affair with a young woman from Mundagaon. Despite resistance from their families, they got married.
Both Khira and his wife on October 30 had left for Delhi to work as migrant labourers.
After reaching Delhi, Khira attended a wedding ceremony on November 2 and as pre-planned he handed over his wife to the person whose wedding ceremony he was attending.
The victim (Khira’s wife) as is seen in a video that has gone viral on social media platforms did not object to it.
After getting his wife married to the person in Delhi, Khira returned home to his village-Maskaguda.
In the meanwhile, the victim woman called up her father and sent a video clip of her marriage in Delhi.
Following that the victim woman’s father lodged a written complaint with Narla police.
Narla police registered a case and arrested Khira. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody following his production at the court.
