Bhubaneswar: A special screening of Odia movie DAMaN, which was recently made tax-free by the Odisha Government, was hosted by the Odia Language Literature & Culture Department with the support of Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) at the convention centre of the Lokaseva Bhavan on Sunday.
After watching the movie, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said that the movie based on malaria prevention is very realistic and motivational. It will encourage doctors and other practitioners to work in difficult situations in different regions. He advised all to thank the officers and employees working in various remote areas and to screen the movie in all the districts in coming days.
The movie is gaining popularity in terms of story, characters and acting and it is going to be dubbed in Hindi language. As a result, it will gain popularity in various states of India.
Culture Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu said that the promotion of such realistic movies will be given importance in the coming days. He also said that in view of the popularity of the movie, it will be screened again at the convention centre while thanking everyone present and OFDC for its cooperation.
OFDC Chairperson Kuna Tripathy said that such a movie is an innovative step in the 86-year history of Odia cinema. It will encourage all the directors, producers and actors in the coming days.
DAMaN movie’s protagonist Babushaan Mohanty, writers and directors Debi Prasad Lenka and Vishal Mourya, and producer Deependra Samal were felicitated by Chief Secretary Mohapatra during the program. The doctors and staff of different departments joined and watched the movie. Culture Department’s Director Ranjan Kumar Das coordinated the program.
