Bhubaneswar: The affected train line at Korai which was damaged by Goods Train derailment on Monday morning has been repaired within 16 hours, the East Coast Railway stated. Restoration was initiated and completed on war footing with ECoR General Manager Roop Narayan Sunkar supervising the work on the site along with Principal Heads of the Departments of ECoR including Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road Railway Division.
Due to the derailment, both the lines at Korai Station in Bhadrak-Kapilas Road Railway Section in Howrah-Chennai Main Line were blocked. Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Teams were immediately engaged for restoration work.
Due to the consistent efforts of Railwaymen, the affected wagons were cleared from the track at about 5:35 pm and track fit given in Down Line in the late evening and both the tracks were made fit for train traffic movement before midnight along with restoration work for Over Head Equipments (OHE) Works. In the restoration work, Railway machineries along with heavy Capacity Excavators, Cutters and workforce were used, the ECoR added.
Apart from this, General Manager also handed over the ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kins of the person died in the incident. Ex-gratia has also been handed over to the injured persons.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kins of the deceased person and Rs 1 Lakh each for grievous injuries and Rs 25,000 for minor injuries which was provided to the affected immediately.
