Bhubaneswar: As many as 9,261 rape cases have been registered in Odisha in the last three years from 2019 to 2021.
Replying to a question from Congress member from Bolangir Narasingh Mishra in the State Assembly, Minister of State for Home Tusharkanti Behera has stated that a total of 9,261 rape cases have been registered in the State in the period from 2019 to 2021.
Behera said that while 2,950 rape cases were registered in 2019, 2984 were registered in 2020 and 3327 were registered in 2021.
As per data shared by the Minister in his reply, a total of 1653 cases of dacoity have been registered during the same period.
While in 2019 a total of 587 cases of dacoity were registered in the State,514 were registered in 2020, and 552 were registered in 2021.
The Minister has informed that a total of 34,202 theft cases were registered in the State in the three years from 2019 to 2021.
While 10766 theft cases were registered in 2019, 10412 cases were registered in 2020, and 13024 were registered in 2021.
The Minister has further informed that a total of 10,574 cases of non-dowry torture were registered in the State last three years from 2019 to 2021.
Out of these non-dowry torture cases, 2532 were registered in 2019, 3153 were registered in 2020, and 4889 were registered in 2021, the Minister added.
