Bhubaneswar: A youth from Bangladesh was arrested by Singhadwar Police after pictures of the sanctum sanctorum of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri went viral on social media.
The youth identified as Akash Chowdhury (23), a resident of East Zinda Bazar in Sylhet District of Bangladesh, had taken photos of the sanctum sanctorum during a visit to the shrine and had posted those on his Facebook account.
He had wrote in Bengali, “this moment of my life is unforgettable. I have had the darshan of Lord Jagannath.” However, he deleted the post after the photos went viral.
Soon after, VS Chandrasekhar Rao, Administrator (Security) of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) filed a complaint at Singhadwar Police Station seeking strict action against Chowdhury.
It is worth mentioning that the SJTA has banned the use of mobile phones, cameras and other electronic gadgets on the temple premises on security grounds. The incidenthas pointed finger at the security system in the age-old shrine.
