Balasore: The Headmaster of Somnathpur UGUPS School (SUMS) located at Simulia in Balasore district was found sleeping in his office after drinking alcohol on Tuesday. After catching him in the act, the Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) promised the parents that strict action would be taken against the headmaster.
Reportedly, the Headmaster identified as Karunakar Singh comes to school everyday in a drunk state. He also neglects bringing the necessary items needed for the mid-day meal. As a result, the students have to go without food on a regular basis. Even after repeated complaints by the parents, no action had been taken against him.
Yesterday, Singh came to the school at 10.15 am after drinking alcohol and went straight to the office and fell asleep. As there was no cooking items in the school, the cook asked him about what to cook for the children. He said that he had forgotten to bring the cooking equipment and fell asleep.
As a result, the villagers bought some biscuits for the children and fed them. They immediately informed the ABEO. Upon receiving the news, the ABEO reached the spot and found the Headmaster sleeping. He promised to conduct a probe and taken strict action against the headmaster.
