Bhadrak: An 8-hour Bhadrak Bandh is being observed by the District Congress Committee (DCC) on Monday reiterating the demand for establishment of a medical college in the district. The DDC is also demanding to grant University status to Bhadrak Autonomous College.
The bandh is to be observed from 7 am to 2 pm. Congress activists are picketing at various places in the district and have blocked the National Highway 16. As a result, the vehicular communication has come to a standstill. Shops, markets, schools, and colleges have also been closed.
Establishment of a medical college has been a long-standing demand of the people of this district. The DCC alleged that the healthcare in the district is ailing. No proper medical care facility is being provided to the patients of this district at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
