Baripada: Five elephants including two calves, who had got stuck in mud at Katharama village in Kuliana block of Mayurbhanj district, were successfully rescued by the forest department staff on Thursday morning.
Reportedly, they were part of a 33-member herd of elephants. They had fallen into a pit dug for irrigating a farmland. On getting information, forest officials from Baripada Range rushed to the spot and rescued them.
