Puri: Around 55 grams of brown sugar worth approximately Rs 5 lakh was seized during a raid by the Puri STF and Baliapada Police Station staff near Sterling Chowk on Thursday morning.
During the raid led by Inspector Sushant Kumar Sahoo, IIC of Baliapanda Police Station, five inter district suppliers including one main mafia was nabbed and subsequently arrested.
The accused persons have been identified as Abhinash Parida (27) of Kakatpur, P.Kalia (20) of Bali Nolia Sahi, Tophan Bhoi (27) of Gopalpur, Sankar Mallick (34) of Mangala Sahi, and Rama Chandra Das (38) of Gandhi Paida.
The contraband, four two wheelers, four mobile phones and Rs 1080 cash was recovered from their possession.
