Bhubaneswar: Archana Nag facing allegations of extortion was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Earlier, the ED had arrested Khageswar, an associate of Nag in this case.
The city-based couple Nag and Jagabandhu Chand were on Tuesday produced before the court of SDJM Bhubaneswar in connection with the blackmail and extortion case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the monetary angle of the case sought another custodial remand of Nag today. The ED sought a 15-day remand for both Nag and her husband.
The ED had taken Nag on a 7-day remand which ended today following which she was produced before the court. The agency, to dig deeper into the financial transactions of the couple, has sought an extension of the remand, reports said.
On the other hand, Chand has moved the Orissa High Court seeking a bail after his petition was rejected by the District and Sessions Court.
