Bhubaneswar: Parameswara Iyer, CEO of NITI Aayog visited Keonjhar along with Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena, Anil Kumar Jha, Secretary Ministry of Tribal Affairs & Amit Verma, Director Niti Aayog to see various developmental works of the district meant for the PVTG The Juanag on December 9.
The high-profile team landed at Gonasika of Banspal Block and visited the tribal Education complex meant for PVTG Girls situated at Gonasika.
Collector Keonjhar Ashish Thakre gave a brief presentation about the socio-economic profile of the Juanga Tribe at the tribal Museum situated in the Education Complex along with the different initiatives taken up by the State Government for the PVTG Upliftment.
Then the team were briefed about the different initiative taken up under the High School transformation programme. Iyer interacted with children in the transformed smart classroom. They appreciated the steps taken by the state Govt and District Administration under the 5T high School transformation.
Then the team visited one of the remotely located villages namely Ghungi under Kodiposa GP of Banspal Block. The team observe the Check Dam, Community Pipe water Supply and other activities taken up in the district for the PVTG. All the team members sat with the villagers and discuss the different aspects of the village.
Then the team visited the Govt Primary Schools of the Ghungi. They witnessed the Multilingual Education programme at Ghungi Primary School and appreciated the innovative approach to tribal education taken up by the district i.e. LINK (Local & Indigenous Knowledge Corner).
The classroom setup and inclusion of cultural resources in the school curriculum to bridge the language and cultural gap is one of the major objectives of the link programme.
Then the team visited the creche setup at Kundhei Village for the PVTG Children and returnd to the District headquarters. At the District level the team visited the Tribal Resource Centre (TRC) & Inaugurated the Tribal Library at TRC.
The other initiatives like Handball Stadium, Millet Café & District Head Quarter Hospital. The team highly appreciated the commitment of the district towards PVTG Development.
