Berhampur: Second largest Ashoka Stambh or Ashoka Pillar is to be installed at the Army Air Defence College in Gopalpur of Ganjam district. It will be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.
Sculptor Rajkumar Behera of Berhampur is in the limelight for the workmanship and construction style of the Ashoka Pillar. Around 12 artists took 40 days to construct the sculpture and a total of Rs 3 lakh was spent. It has been built with glass fiber and has been painted in bronze color.
The height of the sculpture is 13 feet and it is 6.1 feet in width. The largest Ashoka Stambh is 21 feet in height installed on the roof of the new Parliament building in New Delhi.
