Bhubaneswar: Odia poet and writer Gayatribala Panda is to be conferred with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2022 for her poetry collection ‘Dayanadi’.
The poetry collection ‘Dayanadi’ for 2022 is based on the Kalinga War. It contains 64 poems including a dedication and appendix.
Congratulating her, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “I wish you more success in the coming days in enriching the world of Odia literature.”
କବିତା ସଙ୍କଳନ 'ଦୟାନଦୀ' ପାଇଁ କେନ୍ଦ୍ର ସାହିତ୍ୟ ଏକାଡେମୀ ପୁରସ୍କାର ପାଇବାକୁ ମନୋନୀତ ହୋଇଥିବା ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ବିଶିଷ୍ଟ କବୟିତ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀମତୀ ଗାୟତ୍ରୀବାଳା ପଣ୍ଡାଙ୍କୁ ମୋର ଶୁଭେଚ୍ଛା ଜଣାଉଛି। ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟ ଜଗତକୁ ସମୃଦ୍ଧ କରିବା ନେଇ ଆଗାମୀଦିନରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କର ଆହୁରି ସଫଳତା କାମନା କରୁଛି।

An engraved copper-plaque, a shawl and an amount of Rs 1,00,000 will be presented to Gayatribala at the award presentation function held by Kendra Sahitya Akademi.
The awards were announced for 23 languages including seven poetry collections, six novels, two story collections, two literary criticisms, three plays and one autobiography.
Born in 1977 in Sadeipur of Jagatsinghpur district, Gayatribala is the daughter of Golak Bihari Panda and Arunima Panda, and the wife of Rajya Sabha MP Manas Ranjan Mangaraj. She started writing at an early age of six or seven and got published in all leading odia journals since 2000.
She was awarded first Kendra Sahitya Akademi ‘Yuva Puraskar’ in Odia for her poetry collection ‘GAAN’ (The Village) in 2011. In 2012, she was named as one of the ten best young writers in the country by the English daily Indian Express(Eye Magazine).
She was selected for the ‘Writers in-residence’ programme at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for 2015. She was the first Odia to get this honour.
