Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) on Friday destroyed huge quantities of narcotic drugs.
According to an official press release, as per decision of Drug Disposal Committee led by SP, STF, Bhubaneswar, Deputy Collector, Khordha, Superintendent of Excise, Khordha, DSP, STF in the presence of Scientific Officers of State Forensic Science laboratory and Member of State Pollution Board destroyed 1012 gram contraband brown sugar and 748 kg of ganja seized from the possession of accused persons at the designated incinerator at Tangiapada, Khordha following all due procedure.
The seized drug/ganja was first authenticated/ certificated by concerned court and handed over to Drug disposal committee for the disposal/ destruction.
Till date STF has destructed/disposed of 24.496 kg brown sugar in 19 cases and 63.40 qtls ganja in 12 cases including today’s destruction, the press release said.
Similarly, Odisha Police has disposed/ destructed more than 782 qtl. Ganja in 264 cases and more than 29 kg brown sugar in 39 cases, the release added.
